  3. Why do we assess programs? • To ensure continued student success • To assess individual needs of students • To better meet the needs of students with disabilities • To allow for staff/parent input

  4. Programs Involved • Transitional Kindergarten • Chesak • Structured Educational Settings (K-8) • Leggee, Conley, MMS • Strategy Education (K-8) • Chesak, Martin, HMS • Special Needs and Autism Program (SNAP) (6-8) • Leggee • Life Skills programs (K-8) • Chesak, Martin, HMS • Total of 17 classrooms across the district

  5. Considerations • Assess number of students in self-contained programs • Access to students’ home school • Space availability in buildings • Access to related service personnel (SW, OT, PT, etc.) • Impact on travel times for students • Ease of transition within/between campuses

  6. District Personnel Involved • District Administrative Committee • Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, Special Services, Principals • Building Level Input • Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Related Services • Department Input • Human Resources, Transportation, Food Service, O & M, Technology, Curriculum

  7. Role of Parent Liaison • Meet with Special Services monthly • Provide information to parents • All committee minutes and agendas will be posted on the special services website • Facilitate parent discussions regularly • Provide information back to Special Services • Email specialservices@district158.org

  8. Timelines • Parent Liaison Meeting with Special Services • Fourth Monday of every month at District Office (6:00-7:00 pm) • Pre-PAC Parent Meeting • December 8th at District Office (5:00-6:00) • January 12th at District Office (5:00-6:00) • District Administration Committee- bimonthly • Agendas and minutes will be posted on website • Finalization of Committee Recommendations • Feb. 2012 • Board Approval based on recommendation from committee
