Midterm Exam. Format. I will give you six questions to prepare. Th ree of those questions will appear on the midterm. You must answer all of them. Answers should be 5-6 sentences in length. Example. Q: Why did Ben kiss the Stanley Cup in One Week ?

  2. Format • I will give you sixquestions to prepare. • Three of those questions will appear on the midterm. • You must answer all of them. • Answers should be 5-6 sentences in length.

  3. Example • Q: Why did Ben kiss the Stanley Cup in One Week? • A: The Stanley Cup is the most significant trophy in hockey. Ben was clearly impressed to see it. In the movie, Ben hears a story about a woman who wanted a baby. She kissed the Stanley Cup and later became pregnant. So, maybe Ben kissed the Stanley Cup because he wanted his health to improve and the cancer to go away. He wanted good luck, just like the pregnant woman who kissed it.

  4. How can I prepare? • Review your notes from the class. • You may want to go on the course website (suwonenglish.weebly.com) and study the PPTs and handouts, too. • Prepare some notes for your midterm answers. • You can study with your classmates, but do NOT prepare the same answers. • The rules of plagiarism apply to the midterm.

  5. What can I bring to the exam? • You may bring HALF of an A4 page of notes to the class • The notes must be: • typed (not handwritten) • point form (not sentences) • Times New Roman size 12 (no other fonts)

  6. Allowed • Symbol of maple tree on Canadian flag • Traditional food of First Nations people • Eaten with meat, soup, vegetables, beer, dessert…

  7. NOT Allowed • Maple syrup is the national food of Canada. It comes from the maple tree, which is such an important symbol of Canada, we can even see the maple leaf on the Canadian flag. Maple syrup is a traditional food that was eaten by First Nations people, who would take the maple water from the trees. Nowadays, Canadian people still use the traditional way to collect maple syrup. They eat it on meat, beans, vegetables, soup, pancakes, ice cream, beer or liquor.

  8. Can I ask my teacher for help? • No.
