INDIA • India has a population of 1.12 BILLION people. • Their currency [money type] is Rupee. • India’s type of government is democracy (voted in by the people). • The climates in India are; in the southwest is tropical, in the northwest alpine conditions and finally in the west is desert. • Schooling - India is making progress with getting children to attend school. They are expanding literacy [reading / writing] so that two out of three people can read & write. • Sport - official national sport is hockey. • Health –the health issues in India are not enough healthy food, unclean living conditions and not enough clean drinking water.
SCOTLAND • Scotland's population is 5.2 MILLION. • Their currency is Pound sterling. • Scotland’s climate is mostly winds sunshine and rain. • Their type government is democracy. • Schooling – Scotland has a school programme for 3 to 18 year olds. Children attend primary school from year 1 to 7. • Health – Scotland has a free public health system. • Sports played in Scotland are Football, Rugby and Cricket.
EGYPT • The Egyptian population is 81 MILLION people. • Their type of currency is Egyptian pound. • The Egyptian type of government is military supreme rule. • Egypt has a very hot and dry climate. • Schooling – they now offer free education and the schooling has grown rapidly early since 1990. • Health – since 2000, 95% of people have safe drinking water and cleaning living conditions. • Sport – Football is the most popular sport played in Egypt.
Switzerland • Switzerland's population is 7.8 MILLION. • The currency in Switzerland is Swiss franc. • Switzerland’s climate in the winter is usually snowing, in summer is sunshine and cloudy, in autumn it is raining and sunshine and in spring is sunny, cloudy and raining. • Switzerland's type of government is Federal Republic. • Schooling – Primary starts at 6 years old. They learn in French or German and start learning English at high school. • Health – No free health care, all families have to buy health insurance. • Sports – Popular sports are Skiing, Snowboarding and Climbing.
CHINA • China’s population is 1.34 BILLION people. • The currency in China is Yuan. • Chinese is a huge land mass and therefore the climate is very different in different areas. • China’s type of government is democracy. • Schooling – all children have to attend school for at least 9 years. In 2009, Shanghai children got the worlds’ best results for maths, science and literacy. • Health – a lot of people die due to environmental pollution (air and water). • Sports – China has the oldest sporting culture in the world. Common sports are martial arts and table tennis.
Kenya • Kenya has 40 MILLION people. • Their currency is Kenyan shilling. • Kenya’s has a tropical climate. • They are governed by a united central government. • Schooling – free primary schooling and 7 out of 10 children attend school. • Health – Kenya has a weak health system and therefore lots of people die because they can’t get medical assistance. • Sports – Lots of famous long distance runners come from Kenya.
comparing CHINA SCOTLAND • SCHOOL • In china they have go to school until they are 14 years old. • HEALTH • They have a poor living system, polluted water and poor people live in dirty conditions. • POPULATION • Too many people living in a small area. • SPORTS • The main sports that they play in China are table tennis and martial arts. • SCHOOL • In Scotland they have to go to school until they are 18 years old. • HEALTH • They have a free health system, clean drinking water and better sanitation [waste water system] • POPULATION • Lots & lots of countryside for more space to build houses • SPORTS • The main sports in Scotland are rugby and football [soccer]
