ABOUT MATRICHS • A nine-month, online, analytic training program • Teams of state public health agency professionals working with reproductive, maternal, infant, and child health services. • Multi-disciplinary teams work independently on seven online modules. • Collaborate on policy issues in their community • Teams receive extensive mentoring and two skills-building site visits.

ABOUT MATRICHS • Develops practical and sustainable analytic capacity • Tailors the content to the needs of each team member • Teams create objectives to transform their project into a decision-making tool. • Build strong linkages among the team members, MATRICHS faculty, state-level facilitators, and AMCHP staff. • Teams will become a resource within their agency and state.

Course Modules • The Analytic Approach to Maternal and Child Health • Maternal and Child Public Health • Using Epidemiologic Statistics in MCH Analyses • Introduction to Databases and Data Collection • Conducting Useful, Appropriate Analyses • Understanding the Decision-Making Context • Effective Communication of Results

Modules (continued) Each MATRICHS module: • Has a content focus and skills development tailored to the needs of each Core Team role • Contains a multimedia “lecture” with downloadable video/audio lectures, slides, and notes • Offers online readings • Employs exercises which reinforce module skills objectives

10. Modules (continued) • Teams are assigned project tasks as part of each module. • Assignments allow teams to apply concepts and skills to their state’s issue. • Each module contains evaluative materials (e.g., pre/post tests).

11. Tailored Content • Material is tailored for each Core Team role (decision-maker, technical analyst, program specialist, community advocate). • Team approach allows each participant to contribute different strengths.

Facilitator Team • Facilitator Team provides assistance and feedback (when requested) to the Core Team. • Facilitators include: • vital statistics directors • Title V directors • communications units within the health department • state government • legislative groups • state-based community organizations
