Grid’5000 is an experimental nationwide platform designed for grid researchers across ten geographically distributed sites. Each site hosts a cluster of PCs ranging from 256 to 1,000 CPUs, interconnected by RENATER, the French academic network. This platform enables the design and development of middleware environments for safe experiments addressing critical issues such as scalability, fault tolerance, and scheduling. With a total funding of 3 million euros, Grid’5000 fosters high-performance networking, resource management, and innovative applications in distributed scientific computing.
