  2. Artı Eksi Enerji Çözümleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., has been founded on 2010 inorderto transfer theproven BSI technologyandexperience of Allal Batteries LLC (US) gained in 19 countriestoTurkishbatteryuserswithin Bostancı Group of Companies. ARTI EKSİ ENERJİ ÇÖZÜMLERİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET A.Ş.

  3. Traction batteries used in forklifts, golf cars etc. • Deep cycle batteries (Cleaning machines, working platforms, etc.) • Stationer Batteries (Telecom, UPS) • All types of LA batteries. SUBJECT

  4. Lead-acid batteries, invented in 1859 by French physicist Gaston Plante, are the oldest type of rechargeable battery. Despite having the second lowest energy-to-weight ratio (next to the nickel-iron) and a correspondingly low energy-to-volume ratio, their ability to supply high surge currents means that the cells maintain a relatively large power to weight atio. These features, along with their low cost, make them attractive for use in motor veichles to provide the high current required by automobile starter motors. About Battery

  5. Specially designed deep-cycle cells are much less susceptible to degradation due to cycling, and are required for applications where the batteries are regularly discharged, such as photovoltaic systems, electriv vehicles (forklifts, golf cart, electric cars and other) and uninterruptible power supplies. These batteries have thicker plates that can deliver less peak current, but can withstand frequent discharging. DeepCycleBatteries

  6. A Battery stores energy for further use. Simply, the reaction starts with insersion of plates made of two different substances into sulfric asit water solution. A typical battery supplies 2 volts. Reaction inside a battery is a continuous process. When the poles of a battery connected to a electric load, currect is created between the poles and the battery starts discharging. As the battery discharges, chemical composition of plates become similar. Voltage lowers and the ratio of acid in the electrolyte lower as well. Simply, by loading used electric energy back to the battery, battery becomes charged. Plates differes in composition and then battery is ready to supply full performance again. How a batteryworks

  8. ChargeProcess

  9. Battery suppliescurrentthroughthereactions Pb PbSO4 and PbO  PbSO4 whichare not 100% reversible. Massivecristals of PbSO4 stacks on plates as waste of reaction. PbSO4 is a badconductorandpreventsthereactions. • Physical form of activematerialchangesduringdischarge, growth of platescauseshedding of plates. Sheddedparticles of activematerialarestored at thebottom of cellandthis can not be reversible. Wearing of battery

  10. PbSO4 stacked on the plates prevents completion of reaction. Battery can not be charged completely so that it longers the charging time and shorters the discharging time. • Shedded particles of active material stores at the bottom of cell and results in short-cut which cause death of cell. Results of wearing

  11. Negative Problem Shortened life time Shorterdischarge time, Longercharge time Highbatterycost Environmentpollution Positive BSI Solution Refurbishing Upto 75% saving Longerdischarge Shortercharge Environmentalprotection

  12. 48V 500 Ah Battery≈3.000 Euro • 60% lose of capacity, results in lose of 2 hours. • 2 hours means not to load/unload 4 trucks of lose or equivalent work. • Weak battery cause protection systems to halt and can result in defects in battery trucks. Electronic defects can cost more or less 2000 Euro. Calculation/What I lose?

  13. Refurbishing with BSI ≈700 Euro (Gain 2.300 Euro). • Gained working time during 2 years warranty is 125 days (6 months). • Lower risk of defect. • Environmental protection by using battery at least two more years. Calculation/What I gain?

  14. Shortens the charging time saves energy. • Extends discharge time means longer use. • Cheaper compared to new one. Money stays in stock. • Battery works with better performance under two years warranty. • Prevents wasting of battery protects environment. Benefits of Refurbishing

  15. Summary of Refurbishing • Sedimentation at the bottom of cell is removed to prevent short cut. • Electrolye is replaced to supply necessary sulphite to reaction. • Slower aging by BSI additive.

  17. Increases the reactivity of plates.Plakaların reaktivitesini artırır, acts as accelerant. • Covers plates and prevents shedding of plates. Extends the life of battery. • Causes Lead Sulphate to form in neadle like crystals so that it can desolve easily during charge due to increasing reaction surface. • Assure continuous electrolyte quality Why BSI ?

  19. Arrival; Inıtial test. Steps of Refurbishing (1)

  20. Cells are cut and sediment at the bottom is removed. Steps of Refurbishing (2)

  21. Steps of Refurbishing (3) • Battery case is cleaned, paintedandisolated.

  22. Steps of Refurbishing(4) • Cells are welded and placed into the case.

  23. Steps of Refurbishing(5) • Intercell connectors are installed and tested.

  24. Steps of Refurbishing (6) • Charge/Discharge test.

  25. Steps of Refurbishing (7) • Adding BSI and final test.

  26. Steps of Refurbishing (8) • After final test and quality control, battery is ready for shipment.
