  3. LEARNING ISSUES WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF ICT APPLICATION USED IN THE SMART SCHOOL ?

  4. OVERHEAD PROJECTOR SCHOOL LEVEL TECHNOLOGY ICT LAB TYPES OF ICT APPLICATION IN SMART SCHOOL WiFi SMART BOARD

  5. OVERHEAD PROJECTOR • How to used it ?? - Teaching materials can be pre-printed on plastic sheets - Can directly write using a non-permanent, washable color marking pen. - Typically placed at a comfortable writing height for the educator

  6. Advantages : - Better communication between teacher and student. - Saves time - Comfortable to use in teaching - The tranparencies are easily restored to their original unused state

  7. ICT LAB • Each lab has 30 computer workstations linked to the school's network - giving a 1:1 ratio student to computer. • Students are encourage to use the Internet and communication technology - to facilitate the learning process

  8. SMART BOARD • An interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection • A projector is used to display a computer’s video output - act as a large touch screen • Comes with 4 digital pens -use digital ink and replace traditional whiteboard markers

  9. Classroom use : - Teachers can record each step of a lesson for students to review - The flexibility of use in the classroom * Teachers can display information in interactive text, images, sound and video files - Effective to use in class - Decreasing teacher stress

  10. WiFi • In a Wi-Fi network, computers with wifi network cards connect wirelessly to awireless route • The router is connected to the Internet by means of a modem, typically a cable or DSL modem • Wifi networks can either be "open", such that anyone can use them, or "closed", in which case a password is needed • An area blanketed in wireless access is often called a wireless hotspot

  11. SCHOOL LEVEL TECHNOLOGY • Classrooms with : - multimedia courseware - presentation facilities - e-mail or groupware for collaborative work • Library / Media Centre : - with a database centre for multimedia courseware - network resources like access to the internet

  12. Multimedia Development Centre : - with tools for creating multimedia materials - catering to varying levels of sophistication. • Teachers’ Room - with on-line access to courseware catalogues and databases, information and resource management systems - professional networking tools, such as e-mail and groupware

  13. Administration Offices : - capable of managing databases of student and facilities - Tracking student and teacher performance or resources - distributing notices and other information electronically • Server Room : - provide security - access to network resources - equipped to handle applications, management databases, and web servers

  14. Technology plays many roles in Smart School from facilitating teaching-and-learning activities to assisting with school management. Fully equipping a school includes:

  15. Classrooms with multimedia presentation facilities, e-mail and groupware for collaborative work. – Multimedia presentations are not enough; often time’s activities are given by groups to help children develop their social/interaction skills. While a groupware will help learners work together even if they are not together, it is flexible since learners can work together synchronized/ not.

  16. Library media center with database for multimedia courseware and network access to the internet. – the library has book classifications that learners are sometimes confused of and if there is a multimedia courseware for that, learners will be able to look for a book easier and they will e more interested to go to the library and read books.

  17. Computer laboratory for teaching, readily accessible multimedia and audiovisual equipment. – The computer laboratory is very essential and multimedia and audiovisual equipments are the most commonly used. Since they are already ready for use, the learners and also the teacher won’t have to waste their time setting these up. In this way, students will learn more.

  18. Multimedia development center with tools for creating multimedia materials. Computer studies as a subject. – visual aids are very important in the teaching-learning process and to be able to achieve or create a relevant and a good output, there must be a place where the teachers or even the learners can create such materials.

  19. Studio/theatrette with control room for centralized audio-visual equipment. Teleconferencing studio, audio room, video and laser disc video room. – it’s better if the learners will watch a movie or a long video in relation to their subject matter in a place where there will be no distractions, like a theatrette or a audio room or video and laser disc video room. In this way learners will be more interested and focused about what they are watching or listening to. A teleconferencing room would be of a great help to learners who would like to meet some personalities from a distant place, for example SPED students in Malaysia would like to ask some questions to a SPED Teacher living in Australia.

  20. Teachers’ room with on-line access to courseware catalogues and database information and resource management systems and professional networking tools, such as e-mail and groupware. – In a school, we do not only think of the learners comfort and interest, we also have to give accessibility to teachers. In this way, they can make curriculums, weekly plans and other work related materials easier and the management can check on these faster as well.

  21. Server room equipped to handle applications, management database and url servers.- ???:))

  22. Administration offices capable of managing database of students and facilities, tracking student and teacher performance and resources, distributing notices and other information electronically. • – The information about the students and facilities are really important so it is a must that this information are kept and filed in a program or software that can be accessed by the administration. It is also important that the administration are knowledgeable of how their teachers perform and if the students are showing improvements in their performance. So that teachers who becomes under qualified due to his performance, they can do something about it and also be able to help students who are having difficulties with their studies. Information dissemination is also important, so it’s nice of they have an online back up just in case the student or the teacher wasn’t around in school to check the bulletin board.
