  1. From Excess to Success Brittan Bushman

  2. New Technology? Adipose stem cell used for regeneration of various tissues, organs and even bone. This type of breakthrough could replace transplant and other risky, painful surgeries through using readily available reserves right in your very own body!

  3. History of stem cell research • 1900’s various type of blood cells all came from a particular ‘stem cell’ • 1963 that this theory was proven through transplanted bone marrow cells • 1980s 1990s used embryonic stem cells for growing human cells in the laboratory • NOW: The fat stem cells used to regenerate blood vessels and bone tissue.

  4. Fat Stem cells to form Bone!! • New!! Purified stem cells from adipose tissue can be coaxed to form tissue types such as bone, blood vessels, cartilage and muscle. • The found that these cells could yield bone growth. • Take the place of painful and invasive procedures • Click picture for link***

  5. Fat Stem Cells to form Vessels • generates healthy blood vessels • Used for heart bypass surgery • Great for the elderly! • Other cases require that patients take vessels from other places in their body such as the legs and arms.

  6. Advantages and Disadvantages of Use

  7. The Future! • These new breakthroughs in stem cell research could lead to a supply all of the regenerative tissues that is highly demanded in the medical world • skeletal muscle, lung tissue, and even heart tissue. • Slowly make transplants obsolete.
