At the start of my lesson • I expect you to: • Enter the classroom calmly and quietly • Be dressed in correct uniform • Place your planner and pencil case on your desk and get out your books for the lesson • Stand in silence as I start the lesson • Follow instructions • Be considerate to other students

Learning Objectives: Logo and Strapline Draft Designs ready for Feedback Learning Map Key Words: logo – strapline – recognise – impression – visual Starter: What is a Logo and Strapline - Name that strapline Homework : Complete draft logos – remember they do not need to be your final designs – these are working designs. You need at least 3 different designs. • Task One: In your exercise books – produce a spider diagram/bullet points of all the things that come to you when you think of ‘Community Spirit’. What images, colours, shapes, words. (10 minutes) Share your ideas with your partner/test buddy. • Task Two: Using this information, begin to draft out ideas for your logo – these can just be rough sketches in your book – they will not be marked so don’t worry if you cannot draw! • Task Three : Using painting/drawing software – design three draft logos for Community Spirit. • Task Four :Decide on suitable Straplines – again you need to come up with at least 3. Outcome : Screenshot each logo design and Strapline onto a Word Document and annotate to explain design and thinking behind the strapline.

  4. LOGO & STRAPLINE Every logo is a visual element that serves three main functions: 1. Identification - A logo identifies your organisation in a quick, visually symbolic 2. Distinction - A logo can be a way for customers to recognize your organisation. 3. Communication - Your logo communicates something about your organisation. Every logo says something about the organisation it represents - Classy? Trustworthy? Serious? Most logos accomplish the 3 functions with varying degrees of effectiveness. How will your logo measure up? • A strapline is a concise way of saying what you do, or a phrase which can become synonymous with your business. • It should not be a sales message and should always be creative in its execution.

  6. HOMEWORK TASK Screenshot your logo designs – at least 3 Annotate to explain your image/vision. Add your draft Straplines – again you need at least 3. Annotate to explain your thinking. To be handed in Tuesday 13th January

  7. Task • Unless you are familiar with other drawing software, you need to use Paint. Lots of tutorials and help available on line. • Produce at least 3 possible logos for Community Spirit. NB You cannot use ClipArt or any image obtained from the Internet! • Plan possible Straplines to go with your logo.

  8. At the end of my lesson I expect you to: • Pack away quietly • Tidy up your uniform • Push your chair in and tidy around your desk/computer area • Stand in silence to wait for the dismissal • Leave my room in an orderly manner
