  1. Blog: Enduratech.co.za Basic Information About Driveway Gates If you own a car and a house, then you probably also have a garage. Then, you also have a driveway which leads to your garage, through where you drive your car to park it inside. This is the driveway of your home. Driveways are meant for cars, therefore, driveway gates are meant to be big enough to let the cars pass through. These gates are supposed to be separate from fence gates, which are only wide enough to let humans pass. A driveway gate can be constructed employing various mechanisms. If you are face space restriction, a sliding type driveway gate is what you should prefer. It slides inside a cavity when you push it sideways, thus avoiding bumping into things here and there. It also prevents hidden zones from being created. Hidden zones here mean the areas that can easily get missed out by security cameras. Another driveway gate mechanism is the swing type. This type is suitably used in farmhouses and other areas where there is plenty of space to waste. Little children enjoy this type of gate because of obvious reasons. However, it poses problems of sagging over time, and the maintenance costs may shoot up. You must have noticed in old buildings, such gates are made of wrought iron and tend to creak a lot upon the slightest breeze. These gates can be made of different materials, like wood, vinyl, iron, etc. Redwood is particularly preferred because of its weather resistance. Wrought iron may be durable, but it will create rusting issues, especially on the hinges.
