Your answers do not need to be in complete sentences: • What are the first words that come to mind when you hear the phrase “arranged marriage”? • What is the difference between a “love match,” which we saw in Bend It Like Beckham with Jess and Joe, and an “arranged marriage,” like we saw between Jess’ sister and her fiancé/husband? • Would you accept an arranged marriage? Why/why not? • Does a man still have to ask permission of the father to marry his daughter? • Can only the man ask the woman to marry him? Why? • Who pays for the wedding?
