  7. Background Although the innovation system in Central Baltic Region is considered as one of the most advanced in Europe it has weaknesses when it comes to the involvement of women. Therefore: Quadruple addresses the need to integrate a gender perspective in policies and practices for cluster and innovation promotion in the Central Baltic Region.

  8. Objectives Strengthen the innovation system in the Central Baltic region by increasing participation of women in cross-border cluster networking The project will design and implement models, methods and tools for gender mainstreaming in cluster promotion, Promote cross-border clusters in the tourism sector, involving women entrepreneurs. Promote creative connections between the tourism sector and research in the field of mobile technology. Outputs of the projects are for instance test programs for mobile technology solutions for the tourism sector, a best practice catalogue on gender awareness approaches in cluster and innovation programs and a Quadruple website and community.

  9. Targets - quantitative 3 networks. One for business development in the tourism sector in CBR were many women are entrepreneurs. One network for policy development and one network for developing new practices 2 toolkits for gender mainstreaming and integration of sustainability in cluster programs in CBR 3 pilot tests of ICT solutions for the tourism sector in interaction between Small enterprises and researchers

Targets - qualitiative Increased access for SMEs, notably women owned businesses, to cross-border clusters and cutting edge research Increased knowledge and awareness among business and tourism actors how to promote gender equal cluster networking Increased integration of gender and sustainability perspectives in entrepreneurship and innovation policies

  11. Clusters “Clusters are geographic concentrations of interconnected companies, specialized suppliers, service providers, firms in related industries, and associated institutions in particular fields that compete but also cooperate”. Michael E. Porter in On Competition (1998).

  12. Cluster initiatives “Cluster initiatives are organised efforts to increase the growth and competitiveness of clusters within a region, involving cluster firms, government and/or the research community”. Örjan Sölvell, Göran Lindqvist & Christian Ketels in The Cluster Initiative Greenbook (2003).

  13. Clusters in Quadruple In this project we take a cluster initiative, when creating a cross border cluster between tourism entrepreneurs in Estonia, Finland and Sweden. But will also influence other cluster initiatives and cluster policies in CBR to intergrate a gender perspective in their work (policies and practicies)

  14. Search Conference We are in the beginning of the project period and now seeks your ideas and knowledge to form the content of Quadruple. Tunnel - start wide today with speakers. Tomorrow group discussions that will be narrowed down to an Action Plan. Objectives: Seek future plans or visions that are practical and can be implemented in the project. Outcomes: The search conference will identify specific actions that will be included in an action plan. Action plan
