  2. Getting Started… Remember, all you have to do is email us at ys@fppl.orgso we can set up a custom page for you. We will e-mail you with your login information and editing instructions. Click to advance the slides and see a walkthrough of how this will work. For our purposes we will pretend that a teacher named Miss Nelson has just received her login information and is ready to start using the wiki.

  3. Step 1: Go toassignmentalerts.fppl.org This is what she would see. Miss Nelson would click on the teacher link on the site.

  4. Step 2: Signing in at the wiki This is our introduction page with instructions if you haven’t had us create a profile yet. Miss Nelson scrolls all the way down to find the Sign In link. While she’s here she would also see this “Need some help” information. Feel free to contact the library with any questions or comments!

  5. Now that Miss Nelson is signed in, the wiki recognizes her as an editor and displays the page with the editing options. Since the librarians already created a profile for her, she will find her name under the list of participating teachers posted at the left. To edit her own page she will click on her name.

  6. Step 3: Editing! Miss Nelson’s page is currently blank. She’ll click “Edit page” to add her first assignment. Miss Nelson types in the details of an upcoming “favorite state” assignment. One click saves the page. That’s it!

  7. And for extra credit… Take advantage of the “More Actions” drop down menu and subscribe to page changes (so you know right away when librarians post resources) or site changes (when other teachers post or new pages are added). Create a new page as another web page for different class projects, an announcement page for class news, or a file cabinet page where you can upload and store assignment sheets or class forms.

  8. Resources at your fingertips! Now that Miss Nelson added her assignment information her Forest Park librarians can post a compilation of resources for her students. Students get access to the complete assignment details and the resources just by clicking on their teacher’s name!

  9. Don’t forget to visit us online to learn about upcoming library events or to access our class visit form. Click on “For Kids” at the top right hand corner to access our Youth Services pages and select the “For Grown-ups” tab for more! www.fppl.org
