  2. 1.Calcium Magnesium Acetate This is a popular ice melt. It is less corrosive than other salts and hence a good deicer for concrete surfaces like driveways and sidewalks. But, it is an expensive option and ineffective below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

  3. 2.Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) This salt is effective even at -32 degrees Celcious (40 F). But, this salt is mildly corrosive and highly deleterious to plants and other vegetation.

  4. 3.Rock Salt/Sodium Chloride It is a common and affordable ice melt option. However, it can damage various surfaces like care windshield. Furthermore, it is also fatal to pets.
