Konrad Lorenz proposed that some breeds are predominately derived from the Gray Wolf, others from the Golden Jackal. “Wolf breeds” would be those exhibiting one-person fidelity, “jackal breeds” more promiscuous in their affections. He later changed his opinion under the weight of archaeozoological evidence.
