Proposed US Graduate Study Programin New ZealandIntroduction The focus of New Zealand education development is to ensure school students achieve as well as, and better than, other countries participating in OECD International collaboration and reflection on New Zealand policy, research and practice will inform and influence future education goals and directions – both in New Zealand and in the countries participating in Study Programs.

Study Program - Overview • The proposed Study Program will provide participating students with an in depth understanding of New Zealand policy, research and practice associated with school development and teacher education • Opportunities will be provided to analyze, discuss and compare the New Zealand context (mainstream, bilingual and immersion settings) with that of the United States – in collaboration with a New Zealand ‘critical friend’ • Facilitators of the Study Program will include politicians, policymakers, academics, practitioners and graduate students associated with and working in collaboration with the University of Auckland and Cognition Consulting Limited • At the conclusion of the program students will be awarded with a certificate or participation from New Zealand and student reports will be assessed by the participating student University/College.

Study Program - Organization • Study Programs will be based on a maximum of 20 students • The program will be of 16 days duration • Individual student needs and expectations will be accommodated as far as possible in the program content • The Study Program will be hosted by the University of Auckland and Cognition Consulting Limited • The cost of the Study Program will be up to $3,000 – inclusive of all accommodation, meals, travel, teaching and materials in New Zealand
