Governor’s Energy Task Force • 17 Members • 4 Goals • The expansion of the diversity of fuels used to meet Delaware's current and future energy needs. • The development of conservation programs to reduce the need to build more electricity generation facilities. • Ensuring that energy infrastructure will meet Delaware's future needs for efficiently transporting energy resources. • Encouraging producers of clean energy technologies and producers of energy efficient products to locate their business operations in Delaware.

Energy Plan Strategies • 1 - Reduce environmental and economic costs of energy consumption through improvements in end-use efficiency and conservation. • 2 – Reduce the environmental impacts of electricity generation by encouraging clean and renewable energy generation • 3 – Reduce the economic impacts of transmission congestion • 4 – Promote clean distributed generation

  11. Recommendation Examples • Develop an aggressive consumer education program to promote Energy Star appliances & equipment to builders and consumers in the Residential and Commercial sectors. • Recognize outstanding energy-efficient design & construction with a “Governor’s Award”

  12. Recommendation Examples cont’d • Develop a Green Pricing Program for electricity • Work with the utilities to develop rates that encourage clean distributed generation • Mandate that all diesel fuel sold in Delaware be at least 2% biodiesel
