  2. author • George Orwell –he was against totalitarianism and was more for democratic socialism. His real name is Eric Arthur Blair. He was born June 25, 1903.

  3. Theme • In order to keep peace sometimes its best to do as the people want.

  4. Plot • George Orwell was stationed in India when an elephant got the “must.” The Mahout was away when it happened and the elephant destroyed the town. When the elephant killed someone that was when he decided to he had to kill it. He sent someone to get him an ivory gun. He tracked the elephant and shot him.

  5. Charactors • George Orwell—The main man. • The crowd—The silent puppeteers. • The elephant—The mean killer.

  6. Conflict • The elephant got the must and destroyed half the town and killed someone

  7. resolution • George Orwell decided he had to kill the elephant so he shot him.

  8. Memorable line • “I took my rifle, an old .44 Winchester and much to small to kill an elephant, but I thought the noise might be in terrorem” • It has a .44 Winchester and I love guns

  9. Questions • Why was the .44 Winchester too small to kill the elephant? • Why did the tusks cost so little? • Why did the village want the meat off the elephant so bad?
