  2. Before the Story • What images stand out in your mind from the author’s description? • Predict what this novel will be about?

  3. Chapter 1 • What happened to Maniac Magee’s parents and when/where did it happen? • Who is +Maniac Magee? • Who are Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan? • Paraphrase the stage scene and tell why you think Jeffrey did this action.

  4. Chapter 2 • In chapter 2 we learn more about the main character, Jeffrey – Maniac Magee. Cite three background facts/character traits and the text evidence to support each

  5. Chapter 3 • Who is Amanda Beale? Describe her from what is given in the text of Chapter 3. • What does Maniac want from Amanda? • Why would he want such a thing? • What is Amanda’s reaction to Maniac’s request?

  6. Chapter 4 • Who are Brian Denehy and James “Hands” Down? • What did Maniac do in Chapter 4?

  7. Summary • Write a summary (3-5 sentences) for Chapter 1-4. • In these chapters, what has the story been about? • When finished, exchange papers with a table partner for feedback on content and correction of any sentence fragments/run-ons
