  2. Introduction It is important for students to learn about alternative energies because alternative energies will be the only thing left when we are grown ups . Alternative energies come from the earth, so we will always have them. However, fossil fuels will eventually run out. So we will need to rely on the alternative energies. All alternative energies need to be studied by students so when they are older they can become engineers if they choose to be and figure out new ways to have energy. Alternative energies

  3. Wind Introduction Our research is about wind energy. Over the past ten years, wind turbine uses has increased at more than 25% a year. Still it only provides a small part of the world’s energy. Wind turbines cost up to $2.2million and makes up to $600 a month of energy. Wind turbines have a lot of pros, but also tons of cons. Later on you will learn some cool facts about wind turbines. Wind turbine

  4. Pros of wind energy • No harmful gases or pollution. • Wind is free. • The land that the wind turbines are on can still be used for cattle farms. Wind farm

  5. Cons of wind energy • It takes away beauty from mountains, plains, and oceans. • Expensive to put up, or build. • Kills animals that fly by. Kills birds

  6. Cost Effectiveness Of Wind Energy Wind energy is the 4th least expensive form of energy in our whole world. Wind turbines cost $ 1.5 million to $2.2 million each ,and makes up to $600 a month in energy. They need a lot of room so they don’t hit each other and break . They have a lot of wires and so we put those wires in the ground. Graph of cost effectiveness

  7. Usefulness of Wind Energy In The World Wind has many uses and provides a small part of the world’s energy. We use wind for electricity, water pumps, sports, car, races, ships , and boats. They can use wind because all that it takes is a wind turbine, wind mills, and propellers. Also wind turbines use generators, motors, etc. to work. Example of wind sports

  8. Additional Facts Wind blades • Wind turbines can have up to 15 blades, but it is recommended to have 3. • When there are a lot of wind turbines, it is called a wind farm. • When blades are spinning it is called furling. • When the blades hit max speed, a computer tilts the blades and makes them catch less wind and slow down. • Blades come in many shapes ,sizes ,and forms.

  9. Conclusion We learned that wind turbines can power cars ,boats etc., the usefulness of wind energy , the cost effectiveness, the pros and cons of wind energy. We also learned how to work as a group and complete research, fun facts about wind energy and what causes wind. Wind farm
