Transforming Lives Through Kiva Loans in the Classroom

Kiva is a global organization that empowers individuals to lend money online to microfinance institutions in developing countries and the U.S. This project enabled Brunswick High School students to engage with Kiva by expanding their account and choosing to loan to the Sonadores Con Propositos Group. As of December 2009, Kiva had distributed over $110 million in loans, with 2,500 new members joining weekly. Inspired by their success, Jasper Lowe and Cody Smith took their project to local classrooms and the Highlands Retirement Community, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship.
