  1. Do Now: Take papers off side counter Take out papers from yesterday Write down homework: Get progress report signed

  2. Field of View • Field of view: • Observable area seen through the microscope • How much of the area can you see while looking through the microscope

  3. Pretend the microscope works like a camera… LOW power/barely zoomed in

  4. Pretend the microscope works like a camera… MIDDLE power/zoomed in some

  5. Pretend the microscope works like a camera… HIGH power/zoomed in a lot!

  6. Low power 1 2

  7. Middle power 1

  8. High power 1

  9. With a partner answer the following… • How did the field of view change when you zoomed in from low power to high power? • How did the field of view change when you zoomed out from high power to low power? • Can you see more of the image or less of the image as you zoom in? • What is the benefit to zooming in/magnifying an image?

  10. Estimation • Estimate: To give an approximate value • We are going to ESTIMATE the size of things by comparing them to something we know! Let’s try it…

  11. Now let’s estimate the size of something microscopic! Low power 1 2 24.5mm!

  12. Now let’s estimate the size of something microscopic! Low power 1 2 3mm!

  13. Middle power 1

  14. High power 1

  15. Now you are going to try some estimating on your own!
