  2. Introduction • The LEO Club at FQMS has been very busy this year. We have been working in partnership with the PTA Community Outreach Program to plan and promote various activities to support local charities.

  3. Ways We’ve Helped • Change Matters Campaign • Coat Drive • Turkey Basket Drive • Holiday Giving Tree • Hearts For Haitians • School Supply Collection

  4. Change Matters Campaign • The Horizon Foundation Change Matters Campaign raised over $300.00 for Grassroots shelter programs through spare change collections. • Students raised not only money but also brought an awareness of Howard County’s homeless families to our school.

  5. Coat Drive • During winter months we collected over 40 winter coats, as well as scarves and hats which were given to local families.

  6. Turkey Basket Drive • The Turkey Basket Drive collected grocery store gift cards, household cleaning supplies, personal care items and non-perishable food items. • The original intention was to collect items for six families. However, we had such a successful collection, we were able to provide baskets for twelve families while collecting more than 1000 pounds of items.

  7. Holiday Giving Tree • The Holiday Giving Tree displayed wish list items for three adopted families. We were able to provide many gifts for each family. • In addition, several other families were able to benefit from the over $700.00 in gift cards collected. • The LEO Club and giving tree participants enjoyed themselves at a wrapping pizza party.

  8. Hearts For Haitians • After the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the Folly Quarter Leo Club wanted to find a way to help. • In conjunction with Valentines Day, we sold candy grams to raise money for The American Red Cross. We raised several hundred dollars to help in their efforts.

  9. School Supply Collection • At the end of the school year, during our locker clean out, we will be collecting gently used school supplies to donate to schools in Howard County.

  10. Looking forward to next year • We will elect Officers • We will expand the programs that were successful this year • We will work with the Environmental Club to harvest vegetables from our school garden to donate to Grassroots

  11. In Conclusion… • We currently have 12 members and the club continues to grow each month. • Members have been motivated by the opportunities to help others while becoming more socially aware. • It has also helped develop student leadership roles in the school.
