  4. “I promise that I will keep myself clean, then my house, my surroundings, my society, my State clean… and finally my Nation will be clean,” said former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. • As a part of the Gandhi Jayanthi Day celebrations, the M.E.T. Public School, Perumbavoor, and residents of Poopani village jointly organised a cleanliness drive named SwanthamGramamSundaraGramam(My village, Clean village). • Clean surroundings • The students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff divided themselves into batches and cleaned the surroundings of the houses. They also exhorted the residents to maintain their premises clean. • The cleaning campaign will continue for one year and aims to make the village clean, thus setting an example for the State. This project was inaugurated by cine actor KaviyoorPonnamma. The “Ideal Village” concept is the brainchild of IndiraRajan, founder Director of the school. She is the also General Secretary of the Kerala C.B.S.E. Schools Managements Association. She called upon all C.B.S.E. schools in the State to organise similar initiatives.
