The very next Sunday morning the warm sun rose.
POP! Out of that little egg came a tiny caterpillar.
The very hungry caterpillar began to search for some food.
On Monday he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry.
On Tuesday he ate right through 2 pears, but he was still hungry.
On Wednesday he ate three plums, but he was still hungry.
On Thursday he ate four strawberries, but he was still hungry.
On Friday he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.
On Saturday he ate one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone,
one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese,
one slice of salami, one lollipop,
one piece of cherry pie, one sausage,
one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon.
That night he had a terrible stomachache!
The next day the caterpillar just ate one green leaf.
He felt much better after that.
The caterpillar was not hungry anymore.
He wasn’t a little caterpillar anymore either. He was a big, fat caterpillar.
The caterpillar built a cocoon around himself.
He stayed inside his cocoon for two weeks.
Then…he nibbled a hole, pushed his way out, and…
