  1. SAT What is it? How do I prepare for it?

SAT Facts • Takes three hours and 45 minutes • Contains 10 separately timed sections: • Three sections test critical reading (70 minutes) • Three sections test math (70 minutes) • Three sections test writing (60 minutes) • One section is unscored and can test any of the above (25 minutes) • Includes three types of questions (all except essay is scored electronically): • Multiple choice questions • Student produced responses • Essay questions

SAT Sections -Critical Reading All multiple choice • Sentence completion • Passage-based reading Questions asses students’ reading skills, such as: • Identifying main and supporting ideas • Determining the meaning of words in context • Understanding author’s purpose • Understanding the structure and function of sentences.

SAT Sections -Writing Two types of questions: • An essay • Assesses if student can • Organize and express ideas • Develop and support a thesis • Use language appropriately • Multiple choice questions • Asks students to • Recognize sentence errors • Choose the best version of a piece of writing • Improve paragraphs

  5. Best place to study Collegeboard.com is an ACT, SAT study site. The app attached to this site will send you an SAT question of the day. You can access any of the past questions of the day through this app.

  9. Grockit allows you to study on your own or with a group. Membership time is limited but you can increase your accessibility by paying a membership fee.

  10. Cramberry Cramberry is a website as well as an app for flashcards. For free, on your electronic device, you can create your own flashcard lists. For free, online, you can choose lists already created and use them for a 14 day trial period. This will sync to your electronic device app. For $9, you can have a year’s worth of access to all the flashcard sets the site has to offer.

  11. NotecardsLite NotecardsLite is a free app for your electronic device. With this app, you can create your own stacks of flashcards.

  12. Flashcards+ This app allows you to download already created lists (SAT vocabulary). You can also create your own lists.
