Mood and anxiety disorders, and mental illness more broadly, affectmany aspects of well-being, including: 1.Employment: The unemployment rate of people with serious mental illnesses is in the range of 70 to 90per cent 2.The economy: According to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health,mental illness costs the Canadian economy an estimated $51 billion per year. 3.Safety: People with mental illnesses are more than twice as likely to be victims of crime. 4.Physical health: Mental and physical health are intimately linked: people with serious mental health conditions are at high risk of chronic physical conditions and vice versa.
