  2. Irregular Adjectives: The Nasty Nine (a.k.a. UNUS NAUTA) (Adjectives with -ius in the genitive singular and -i in the dative singular) Ullus Nullus Uter Solus Neuter Alius Uterque Totus Alter (and of course unus itself!)

  3. These adjectives are irregular in the genitive and dative singular. • Their irregularity in these cases is the same as: genitive and dative • ille, illa, illud illius, illius, illius illi, illi, illi • qui, quae, quod cuius, cuius, cuius cui, cui, cui

  4. ALIUS, ALIA, ALIUD another, other (of several), else ALTER, ALTERA, ALTERUM the other, the one (of two) UTER, UTRA, UTRUM which (of two) UTERQUE, UTRAQUE, UTRUMQUE each (of two), both NEUTER, NEUTRA, NEUTRUM neither (of two) THEIR MEANINGS

  5. UNUS, UNA, UNUM one, alone; only (pl.) ULLUS, ULLA, ULLUM any NULLUS, NULLA, NULLUM none, no SOLUS, SOLA, SOLUM alone, sole, only, single TOTUS, TOTA, TOTUM the whole, entire, all Meanings continued

  6. nullus, nulla, nullum

  7. The following are declined just like Nullus, Nulla, Nullum: • SOLUS • TOTUS • ULLUS • UNUS THE PLURAL FOR EACH OF THESE ADJECTIVES IS DECLINED REGULARLY.

  8. neuter, neutra, neutrum

  9. The following are declined just like neuter, neutra, neutrum: • UTER • UTERQUE THE PLURAL FOR EACH OF THESE ADJECTIVES IS DECLINED REGULARLY IN THE FASHION OF PULCHER, PULCHRA, PULCHRUM.

  10. Alius, alia, aliud The “i” in the genitive singular is long. The plural is declined like “industrius”.

  11. Alter, altera, alterum The plural is declined like liber, libera, liberum.

  12. SOME NUMBERS • DUO, DUAE, DUO = 2 II • TRES, TRIA = 3 III • MILLE, MILIA = 1,000 M These adjectives are also declined irregularly.

  13. Duo, duae, duo These forms are the remnants of the archaic “dual” forms. It was used for things which came in pairs.

  14. Tres, tria

  15. Mille, milia

  16. Ambo, ambae, amboboth
