  3. Governance to E-Governance E-Governance is based on Five principles. 1. More organized way of working – Well defined roles 2. Simplified way of working – Processes, levels, documents 3. Sustainable way of working – Not dependent on Individuals 4. Clearly defined Objectives – Spelt out at the very beginning E-Gov leads to Continous Improvement and also Vice versa ie., It should be able to adapt to changes in environment Technology is a Enabling factor

  4. E-Governance Project – A Case Study The process of Registration of Births and Deaths is one of the primary activities of the state and UT. The outputs of these activities is the issue of Birth certificate and Death certificate. NIC, Andaman state unit and DHS undertook a project in 2007-08 to computerize the registration process with the concept of “Services” delivery to stakeholders including Citizens, field offices, Head office of DHS, Other offices. The project was named “BIRDS” – for Online web based Registration of Birth and Deaths in the entire A & N Islands. Click here for BIRDS Presentation

E-Governance in A & N Islands – Conclusion and Way ahead • It is suggested to take up e-Gov • projects for a few departments (MMP) • Follow the concepts as in BIRDS project • Continously review and improve projects • Provide for sustainability of projects • It is the HOD’s who can determine the • success of a project.
