Key Risk Factors Absent >= 10%* of instructional days, or 2 of first 20 days (by class period) - Current or previous semester Behind 9th grade cohort based on initial 9th grade entry Behind in credits (< 6* per grade level) Course failures - Core / Non-core - Current or previous semester Secondary factors: LEP, First Yr Monitoring, Second Yr Monitoring, Immigrant, Migrant Coming later: Discipline, Special Education, Grade 6-8 retentions * Exact thresholds customizable by campus

Assumptions and Thresholds • Attendance • Periods per day for which attendance is taken • 8 for all campuses • Excluded Absence Reasons • 2 Adult Detention • E 4-H (w/proper document) • T Tardy • P Present • R Juvenile Detention • S Field Trip • W ISS • 6 Life Skills for Student Parent • T Teacher Tardy • Z UIL • Y D-Hall • X Homebound

Assumptions and Thresholds • Attendance Threshold • Threshold for all campuses has been set to an absence rate of greater than or equal to 10% • How is it calculated? • Numerator • # of period absences • Denominator • 8 periods per day x # days enrolled • Example: John has 20 period absences and has been enrolled at Del Rio HS for 30 days. • 20/(8 periods x30) = 12%.... he would be flagged

  6. Assumptions and Thresholds • Behind 9th Grade Cohort • Behind in Credits (Grades 9-12) • Course Failures • Failing grade is set to < 70 • Core and non-core courses are defined by the campuses

Adding SchoolViz as a Trusted Site • You must add https://reveal.schoolviz.orgas a trusted site and adjust your browser settings (Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher) • Select Tools  Internet Options • Select Security Tab  Trusted Sites  Sites • In the Add this website to the zone field, the SchoolViz website should automatically be populated. Select Add, then select Close • Under security level for this zone, click and drag the adjuster bar down to low. Click Apply then Ok. • This must be done on any PC from which you choose to view the Reveal DWS application.
