  2. Introduction to pronouns Definition: A pronoun takes the place of a noun. Most pronouns have antecedents. My sister, who can be a bit manipulative, was trying to sell her car to her husband, but he knew that she had crashed it four years ago whenshe was dating my current boyfriend. Exception: It was raining. What is it?
