  2. Classification of Volcanoes • Volcanoes can be classified according to their shape ,size and form. These are affected by the type of lava and the way the lava was ejected. There are three types of volcanoes:

  3. Acid lava Volcano • Acid lava refers to silicate minerals, molten magma and rock material that are enriched with the lighter elements like silicon, oxygen, aluminium, potassium and sodium that flow on the ground surface after a volcanic eruption.

  4. Basic lava volcano • Basic lava comes from shield volcanoes, is runny . • Basic lava is mafic, and higher in plagioclase feldspar. and flows faster.

  5. Composite lava Volcano • Composite volcanoes are constructed from multiple eruptions, sometimes recurring over hundreds of thousands of years, sometimes over a few hundred. Andesite magma, the most common but not the only magma type forming composite cones, produces lava more brittle than basaltic lava because of its higher viscosity.
