Biography • Changed his name from Andor to André • Born on July 2,1894 in Budapest, Hungary • Religion: Jweish • Died in 1985 in New York • Education: Academy of Commerce (graduated in 1912) • He emigrated to Paris in 1925 & worked as a freelance photographer • Retired from commercial work in 1962

  3. Childhood • Had two brothers • Father died of tuberculosis in 1908 • Grew up on his uncles countryside where he realized he had artistic abilities

  4. Career • Started as a clerk in 1912 • In 1914 he left the clerk job and began his photography career • During World War I he enlisted in the Hungarian army, took photographs and sold them to magazines • 1917: Photographs were first published • He began to work as a clerk and took photographs for fun • He joined Conde Nast publications in 1949 • Retired in 1962- he continued to take photographs an hold exhibitations
