  1. Knowing & Experiencing God! John 17:3

  2. John 17:3…. “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” [TNIV]

  3. A BELIEF SYSTEM means “there are certain things I believe to be true.”

  4. What CHANGES us is our personal relationship with God, and experiencing Him living through us in a real and personal way.

  5. Henry Blackaby writes in “Experiencing God” . . . “Everything in your Christian life, everything about knowing Him, and experiencingHim, everything about knowing His will, depends on the quality of your love relationship to God.”

  6. The core of your “belief system” is probably summarized, like mine, in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”[TNIV]

  7. Out of love God sent His Son to save us… from our sin from hell

  8. What did God save us for? Eternal Life! John 17:3…. “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” [TNIV]

  9. Eternal Life ... is knowing God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, it is being in relationship with God now and forever.

  10. Eternal Life ... is something we are meant to participate in now and forever, the only thing which changes is our address (from earth to heaven when we die).

  11. The first and primary characteristic of a relationship with God is…. LOVE!

  12. The greatest commandment Mark 12:30 “Lovethe Lord your God with all of your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” [TNIV]

  13. God saved us for a LOVE RELATIONSHIP!

  14. We will desire and want to spend time with God.

  15. We will desire and want to worship Him and be with His family.

  16. We will try to discern what He wants us to doand how we should live our lives.

  17. We will obey Him when He reveals His plan, His commands, or what He wants of us.

  18. John 14:21…. “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” [TNIV]

  19. IF we don’t love God with ALL our heart and have a close relationship with Him… We won’t want to spend time with God.

  20. We won’t desire to worship God. We won’t care about his family. We won’t listen to God or discern his plan for us.

  21. Our life looks just like everyone else’s – except we have different beliefs.

  22. He saved us for a personal, life transforming relationship with God.

  23. Philippians 3:8-12 Paul understood that nothing is as important as knowing Christ, not his job, his heritage, his religious convictions, his good works for God, nothing.

  24. The key elements in a relationship with God is that it is real.

  25. The Bible presents several images of… “What it means to know God and have a personal relationship with Him!"

  26. #1. The first image is of the "Servant to the King"

  27. #2. The second image is of the "Sheep to the Shepherd"

  28. #3. The third image is of the "Child to a Parent"

  29. John 1:21…. “Yet to all who received him [Jesus/Word], to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” [TNIV]

  30. We aren’t just servants to the King. We are children of our heavenly Father.

  31. Romans 8:15…. “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ ” [TNIV]

  32. #4. The last image is of the "Bride to Her Husband"

  33. We are the “Bride of Christ” – a very intimate kind of relationship.
