  1. HCAL Commissioning Status Overview • Preparing for HCAL commissioning • Remaining cables preparation for installation • Stand-alone test hardware preparation • Software development and test • Commissioning procedure tentative schedule • Remaining problems to be solved 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)

  2. HCAL Commissioning Status HCAL cabling Cables for LED control are ready ½ HCAL (PZ) to be installed during coming week-end Signal cables for pinD: 10 mini-conn. x 8 cables available 2 mini-conn. x 8 cables recuperate 4 mini-conn. x 2 cables required 104 in total 4 FE boards for pinD readout: Even 1 board/side serves ½ HCAL 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)

  3. HCAL Commissioning Status Preparing for stand-alone commissioning • The mini-rack installed on to platform: • PC with GPIB interface to CAMAC • CAMAC crate (ADC’s, TDC’s, control ) • NIM crate (discriminators, delays) Ethernet link is urgently needed on HCAL electronics platform 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)

  4. HCAL Commissioning Status Software development and test • Most of Software has been developed and tested: • On-line data readout • User friendly interface • On-line visualization • Automated scan procedure • Processing of measured data • Store results in data base Software test has been done with real and simulated data 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)

  5. HCAL Commissioning Status Stand-alone commissioning procedure • Tentative procedure plan: • Connect signal cables to ADC’s 2 hours • Trace LED signal in one module (16-40+pinD) 12-24 hours • Set LED pulse-height to ~3000 ph.e.(±25%) 1 hour • Scan PMT with HV variation 1 hour • Scan LED with PMT gain ~104-5 1 hour • Reconnect signal cables to TDC’s 2 hours • Scan PMT’s delay on HV, adjust LED to about same signal 1 hour • Gather data and analysis 4 hours • Re-measure some data if required 8 hours • Total estimate 24-44 hours Schedule for 5-8 weeks per ½ HCAL (26 modules) 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)

  6. HCAL Commissioning Status Remaining problems • Few cables for pinD signal readout promised end of March • HV/LED control boards not yet delivered promised March, 15 • (4 needed urgently + rest within 1 month) test will take 2 weeks • Mains ~240 AC on the HCAL platform needed now • Ethernet link on the HCAL electronics platform needed within 2 weeks • High pressured air (5ati) would be needed in June • Radioactive source delivery promisein June • Access to cable tray HCAL (cryo-side) no solution so far • Access to PMT’s, LED’s, pinD no solution so far 30.03.2006 Rustem DZHELYADIN (CERN&IHEP, Protvino)
