  1. your Pack Bags…

  2. Congratulations! You are the recipient of the International Geographic Society Grant in the amount of $3000

  3. With this grant-money, you will travel to a country of your choice OUTSIDE the United States.

  4. As an IGSG winner you will help other kids around the world learn about the country you will visit.

  5. Keep a logo To ensure that the money is spent strictly on this trip you will be required to keep track of how and where the money spent.

  6. Where does the $$$go?

  7. When you get home… Where did you go? from your trip your job is to prepare a PowerPoint presentation to share the information you have collected on your travels.  What did you do? What did you find?

  8. The rules… • Trip must be seven days long • spend no more than $3,000 • track all money you spend each day • have activities each day • Experience the culture – museums, art, historic sites, food, and more!

  9. It’s your trip, have fun… • You will need to budget your money to make it a trip you would enjoy. Decide how to spend it. Backpack to ancient city for two days or take a train? Nice hotel or a flight to a volcano? Climb a pyramid or enjoy a museum?

  10. Be prepared before you start • Read the directions • Read the syllabus • Ask questions

  11. Spending tips • Check airline prices first so you know how much money you will have left • Next, find the activities and places you want to make part of your trip • Now take a look at the money to see what you can afford to do, where you can afford to stay

  12. Don’t forget the little things • You need to eat • Think about transportation – rental cars, taxis, trains, small airplanes and boats all cost money • You are there to experience the country – Disneyland Tokyo or bungee jumping are not the reason you got this grant
