  1. IDeA PROGRAM INTERACTIONS: Shared Core Facilities Among INBRE, COBRE and CTSAs

  2. Shared Core Facilities Purpose: 1) INBRE Mission: to provide statewide access to state-of-the-art research technology not commonly found at PUIs 2) Reduce costs of facility duplications 3) Share resources and stimulate collaborations

  3. Shared Core Facilities at UAMS • Resource Sharing between INBRE & CTSA: • CCTR provides oversight of UAMS Cores and Facilities, including Proteomics and Microscopy Facilities, supported by INBRE funding

  4. Shared Core Facilities in Arkansas • Resource Sharing between COBRE & INBRE: • Arkansas INBRE has teamed with the NCRR-funded Center for Protein Structure and Function (NIH 5P20 RR015569) • Cooperation provides proteomics instrumentation and expertise to investigators at Arkansas colleges and universities affiliated with these IDeA programs

  5. Interactions at the National Level • Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) - an international society dedicated to advancing core and research biotechnology laboratories through research, communication, and education • National Network of IDeA-Funded Core Laboratories • (NICL) –Helen Beneš (UAMS), Steve Jennings (UALR) & Alan Tackett (Proteomics Core, UAMS) attended NICL Satellite Workshop ABRF Meeting, Feb. 2009 • NIH “Workshop on Efficient Management and Utililization of Core Facilities” –Larry Cornett (INBRE PI) attended for discussion of operational problems and solutions to share, for maximizing use and efficiency
