Slideshow This slideshow and accompanying manual will train you to speak out about Break the Cycle’s mission to end domestic and dating violence. The goal is to help you raise awareness in your local community and gather support for this important issue. Thank you for downloading this slideshow and manual. Use the Economic, Health and Social section as a reference. Feel free to look up current facts and statistics that are relevant to your specific community or area.

Visit Break the Cycle’s website www.breakthecycle.org and other domestic violence sources to learn more about the issue and it’s relevance in your local community.

Securing a PresentationPages 17-19 in manual • Who Will I Speak to? • Now that you are ready to talk about domestic and dating violence, you need a group to talk to! • Make a list of possible groups in your community and contact them (via phone, letter, email). • Review the sample phone script and letter provided in the manual. • Feel free to modify them or use your own, whatever you are most comfortable with.

Giving the Presentation Don’t forget to include: • What is Break the Cycle? • Why is domestic and dating violence relevant to the community? • Why are you speaking to this particular group? • How can the group support Break the Cycle’s mission? Follow the Talking Points Feel free to change to fit your style and audience.

  10. Report Back • You have completed your presentation! • Now tell Break the Cycle about it! Here is what to do: • Findthe form on the last page of the manual. • Fill in as much information as you can and send it to Break the Cycle. • If anyone returns the bottom third of the Front-to-Back Handout to you, send with any donations to Break the Cycle.
