  2. Our Vision To create a safer Newcastle by working with partners and communities to identify, design and implement local solutions to local community safety concerns

Where the NCSP came from • Crime and Disorder Act 1998 • Sections 5 and 6 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002, require specific agencies, known as responsible authorities, to work together, and with other agencies within the community, to tackle crime and disorder and misuse of drugs (substance abuse in Wales) in their local areas. • Responsible authoritiesare required to work in partnership to carry out audits every 3 years to: • identify the extent of these problems in their community  • develop strategies to deal effectively with these problems

Bringing Together - A New Partnership • DAT and NCSP structures to disband 31st March 2005 and form a new partnership • New partnership structure & new strategy from 1st April 2005 • Community Safety, Crime Reduction, Anti-social Behaviour, Drugs, Fear of crime and Alcohol • The two partnerships currently working together on the audit, consultation and new strategy development
