  3. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience What have we learned?!? Our lives are defined/shaped by our decisions • Behavior – What I do • Character – Who I am Our Destiny is being shaped by a series of Defining Moments • Destiny -Where I’m Headed

These “Defining Moments” determine if you: • Move on to the next assignment ordained for your life • Stay in the thicket of a bad decision (…and hopefully you learn from it) • Forfeit the next assignment ordained for your life

  5. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience What have we learned?!? These Decisions are usually achieved due to one’s- Core Beliefs • Aka. Deeply Rooted Convictions When we struggle with our “DEEPLY ROOTED CONVICTIONS” then in the background looms the preliminary elements of DOUBT

  6. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience What have we learned?!? If my “Doubts” outweigh my confidence in God…it segues into UNBELIEF Unbelief – The Major enemy to Destiny! Heb3:19 • Unbelief is: The lack of faith and trust in God that challenges his truthfulness and finds expression in disobedience and rebellion. • Also, noted as in-your-face-rejection • Manser, M. H.   9. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience • Define Experiences • Experience refers to an encounter or undergoing of a situation, condition, crises, hardship, dilemma, and/or predicament- in life effecting judgment, decisions or emotions filed away in our memory

  11. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience • What They Experienced: • Slavery (Ex 1:8-11) • Forced Labor (Ex 1:11-12) • Oppression (Ex 5:15-20) • Brutality (Ex 6:9 nlt) • Murder of their Children (Ex 1:16-22) • Discouragement (Ex 6:9 nlt)

  13. This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience How do you Combat Negative Experiences? Worship God in spite of the negative experience (Job 1:21) Align w/ what God says (Jos 11:23) Look past the neg. experience, focus on the promise (Num 13:30)

This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience What made Caleb different? • Caleb looked past the problem and saw the promise (Num 13:30) • Caleb refused to align himself with unbelievers (Num 14:6-10) • Caleb chose to have a different Attitude • But my servant Caleb has a different attitude (inward disposition) than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land (Nu 14:24 -NLT) • Caleb made a decision to followed the Lord Whole Heartily (Duet 1:35-36)

This is Your Defining MomentLooking Beyond the Experience • 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: l“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Heb 3:12-15)
