  2. Grossmont College Institutional Student Learning Outcomes

  3. GE SLOs = ISLOs Because of considerable overlap, Grossmont is considering GE SLOs = ISLOs

  4. GE SLOs = ISLOs • Departments map GE course SLOs to ISLOs • S = Direct measure of SLO, F = Focus on ISLO Example: Language and Rationality

  5. Assessing GE SLOs • Once mapped, by assessing course-level SLOs, they are by proxy assessing GE SLOs • For Example: in 2010-11 the following course SLOs were assessed

  6. Encouraging Dialogue on Assessment • In Fall 2011, departments who assessed course SLOS mapped as "S" during 2010-11 will be invited to a flex week workshop to more closely examine and discuss the assessment instruments and results to see how well they are addressing the GE/ISLOs.

  7. Encouraging Dialogue on Assessment • How did your students do in terms of achieving the GE/ISLO you mapped the Course to? • Does the Assessment Tool (you brought with you/used to assess the course) address the GE/ISLO and allow you to evaluate whether or not students achieved the GE/ISLO? • IF YES:

  8. Encouraging Dialogue on Assessment • Does the Assessment Tool (you brought with you/used to assess the course) address the GE/ISLO and allow you to evaluate whether or not students achieved the GE/ISLO? • IF NO:

  9. Incorporation of SLO Assessment Into Planning More details on the integration of SLOs in the Grossmont College planning process coming in the General Session following this one.
