  3. Presentation Overview AAAL Awards are an integral part of the association with a long tradition of excellence both nationally and internationally. Today, we will be discussing how to submit a nomination for each award. Points of Discussion

Distinguished Scholarship and Service Award (DSSA) About the Award The Distinguished Scholarship and Service Award recognizes and honors a distinguished scholar for her/his scholarship and service to the profession in general and to the American Association for Applied Linguistics in particular.

  5. DSSA How to Submit • Send your nomination to DSSA@aaal.org • Nomination should include: • 1) Statement of nomination • 2) Current CV of the nominee

  6. Distinguished Public Service Award (DPSA) About the Award The Distinguished Public Service Award recognizes individuals outside of the field of applied linguistics whose work raises public awareness of important social issues connected to language and makes exceptional contributions to promotion of multilingualism, linguistic social justice, and language-related human rights.

  7. DPSA How to Submit • Send your nomination to Jessica@aaal.org • Nomination should include: • 1) One-page nomination letter • 2) Supporting Materials

  8. Book Award About the Award In bestowing this award, the association honors high-quality books that make an exceptional contribution to the field as a whole or to a specific area of specialization.

  9. Book Award How to Submit Submission should be made directly by the publishing organization. Complete the online submission form. Submit eleven hardcopies of each book by mail no later than June 1

  10. Dissertation Award About the Award The Dissertation Award acknowledges a dissertation that demonstrates research excellence, transcends narrow disciplinary fields, and has broad impact on and implications for the field of applied linguistics as a whole. Dissertations must have been completed during the previous two years.

  11. Dissertation Award How to Submit Send your nomination to DissertationAward@aaal.org. A maximum 20-page, double-spaced summary of the dissertation Most recent CV Department or program contact name, email, and phone number. A confidential nomination letter from the dissertation supervisor (details follow) A confidential letter of support from another faculty member

  12. Research Article Award About the Award The AAAL Research Article award is bestowed annually upon the author or authors of a published refereed journal article which is recognized by leaders in the field to be of outstanding quality and to hold the broadest potential impact on the advancement of applied linguistic knowledge.

  13. Research Article Award How to Submit Complete the online submission form. Candidate articles should be nominated by editors of peer-reviewed journals published within or outside of North America. Articles should have been published during the previous calendar year.
