  4. 身份鉴定 虫体 ：似蚕，长 3—5 cm，直径 0．3～0．8cm；表面深黄色至黄棕色，有环纹 20～30个，近头部的环纹较细；足8对，近头部3对不甚明显，中部4对明显 ，近尾部 1对也不甚明显。质脆 ，易折断断面略平坦，淡黄白色。气微腥，味微苦。

  5. 身份鉴定 子座：冬虫夏草中所谓“草”的部分叫做“子座”，出自寄主幼虫的头部，单生，长棒形或圆柱形，长4～11cm，基部直径 1．5—4mnl，向上渐细。子座头部近圆柱形，褐色，长 1～4．5 cm，直径2．5—6mm，先端有长 1．5—5．5 mm的不孕顶部。子囊壳近表面生，基部稍陷于子座内，椭圆形至卵形。子囊细长，每个子囊内含有子囊孢子 1～3个。
