Purpose • What are you learning? • How to understand hyperbole. Also, review the concepts of stanza, rhyme scheme, internal and end rhyme, and refrain • Why are you learning this? • To understand how to group the parts of a poem, so it will be easier to read and comprehend.
Grammar- On a separate sheet of paper, write one sentence combining all the details of each group of sentences. You will be creating adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases. • The sailboat drifted. It was graceful. It drifted in the breeze. The breeze was gentle. • The actor performed the role. She was gifted. The role was the lead. • Rose put her bike away. She put it in the shed. The shed was old. • Ted looked through the mail. He was eager. The mail was on the table. • Anne took a walk. She walked through the forest. The trees were tall pines. It was late afternoon.
Crafting the Lesson (me) • Hyperbole- is a figure of speech. An exaggeration or overstatement used for emphasis. ex. I nearly died laughing. My dad had a cow when he saw my grades. I said that a million times!

She can win a game with her eyes closed. • One table at the picnic site will probably not be big enough for all of us.
