Key Point: For sounds that cannot be sustained, a quick, soft bounce is produced. Script: To ensure that children are hearing the sounds correctly, it is vital that we produce pure sounds. For many sounds, such as /m/ or /a/, the sounds can be sustained or stretched. For other sounds, however, such as /d/ and /b/, we must pause after producing the sound. When exaggerating these sounds at the beginning of words, produce one quick, soft bounce. If children have difficulty with blending, or if the teacher wants to ensure that the correct sound is being produced, the teacher may modify by repeating the bounce a few times. .
