  1. 2008-09 Wrestling Rules Interpretation Meeting

  2. On-Line Meetings • On-line meetings are now available in basketball and wrestling; and this spring for track, baseball and softball. • We plan to have all sports’ meetings online next year • We hope you will find this to be a great alternative to attending meetings in person.

  3. Other Computer Requirements • Flash required • High-speed internet connection recommended • Schools and public libraries • To get credit, need to get to the end and sign in • Plan ahead. Don’t wait until the last minute! Update: As of November 24, this meeting is no longer available for credit.

  5. Officials MUST Be Registered! • Complete all steps • - Paperwork & fee • - Meeting & test • Only work with registered officials • Contact MSHSL Office with violations • Penalty = Suspension

  6. Major Liability Issues! • For non-registered official • For registered officials who work with non-registered officials • For schools, AD’s and Coaches • Not fair to other officials • Officials = Integrity • What about the kids???

  7. Check Officials Directory • Associations must only assign registered officials • Schools must only used registered officials • Non-registered = scrimmage • Contest cannot be made up • Be sure to check the official’s directory after the test deadline ofNovember 24.

  8. Coaches Rating Officials • The scoring system has been changed • Coaches will rate 1 thru 7 in each of 5 sub-categories. The overall rating will be a sum of these sub-ratings. • In the future local Associations will also be able to rate the officials. • Minor changes in language/descriptions

  22. Coaches Restricted Zone: Rule 2-2-2 • defined by either a contrasting line marked on the mat with paint or tape, • or a contrasting colored surface under the chairs • shall be no closer than five feet to the edge of the circle • at tournaments or multiple team events

  23. Wrestler’s Uniform: Rule 4-1-5 (NEW) The uniform shall be worn as intended/designed by the manufacturer. This includes headgear. Singlet worn backwards
