  1. Amazing facts about Private Number Plates

  2. Introduction Personalized number plates aren’t a novelty anymore. They have a deep and rich history, with the early numbers traded in the 1950’s. In this presentation, we’ll discuss some amazing facts about personalized number plates you are unlikely to be aware of. Let’s take a look at some of these facts without further delay.

  3. The Power of 1 ONE. Yes; one and nothing else. This number is widely considered to be the most sought after number in the world. A number plate with just the number 1 was sold at a staggering price of Dh31 million to Mr. Abdullah Al Mahri in Abu Dhabi.

  4. DVLA doesn’t like offensive plates The DVLA meet twice a year before the release of new registrations to remove any potentially offensive registration formats from the impending releases. Some offensive numbers do however slip through their review process. Keep an eye out for these combinations, as they are likely to increase in value.

  5. Personalized plates are a TOP investment It’s a pretty well-known fact that personalized plates provide a good investment opportunity. A simple example will emphasize this. The 1 A number plate sold for £160,000 at an auction in 1989. If it was to be sold in the market today it would be likely to fetch in excess of £400,000 (nearly three times its initial price).

  6. The history of T 8 The earliest known celebrity car registration was owned by Harry Tate, a music hall artist. The number was T 8. Currently, it’s owned by Johnny Tate of the Tate and Lyle sugar company.

  7. The ban of J1 HAD The J1 HAD number plate was banned as soon as the “J” registrations came out in 1991. That’s because it spelt Jihad, the Muslim war in the name of God. The DVLA then decided to ban any number plate having the slightest resemblance to that word: Jihad (e.g. JH11 HAD, J14 HAD etc.).

  8. Robbie Williams’ S8 RRY Robbie Williams, the famous singer cum songwriter purchased the registration number S8 RRY for his new Ferrari. He purchased that particular registration to say sorry to his fans for spending so much money on his new car.
