Our Situation Today • mid-size institution with efficient processes and structures • modern, practical rooms / centrally located • profitable Brockenhaus at perfect location • large variety of different services under one roof • solid contracts with our partners • well known and established in the canton of Zug • highly motivated employees and volunteers • mainly women in leading positions

Fund for Women and Families in Need • financed by donations (private parties and foundations) • main sponsor: Ernst Göhner Stiftung • 60 sponsorships in 2010 • ca. 65‘000 CHF per year • fast and unbureaucratic help • applications through social services, institutions, eff-zett departments • examples of help: German courses, down payment for apartments, moving cost, music lessons for children, passes for public transport etc.

Main Topics and Projects 2010/2011 • Frauen in Not (fund for women/families in need) • prevention of youth violence (Project “Gemeinsam gegen Gewalt”) • elections in the fall 2010 (communal and cantonal): it was the goal to raise the total number of female politicians • fundraising concept: finding more members and patrons as well as more volunteers; opening new financial resources
Public Child Care • Who: for all children from approx. 1 1/2 to 6 yrs. (without appointment or registration) • When: every Friday from 1.45 p.m. - 5 p.m. (except during school holidays) • Where: in basement of the Alterszentrum Herti (geriatric care center) • Costs: per afternoon and child Fr. 9.-- • brothers/sisters Fr. 6.– per child (2 siblings) • brothers/sisters Fr. 5.– per child (3 or more) • cookies and tea included

Alimony Collection and Advance Payment • due to security reasons offices are in another building • exists since 1971 (1. counseling service) • 8 qualified employees • 1135 cases (2009) • total in advance alimony payment 2009: 5.9 Mio • return of alimony payments: 3.9 Mio = 65.2 % • relief for parental relationship
Budgeting Advice • advice in money matters / budgeting • family budgets, liquidation of households, boarding cost, debts, students/apprentices, pocket money, salary decrease (e.g. retirement) • 172 personal meetings • exemplary budgets for different living situations • 5 speeches, talks and teaching assignments
Coaching for Women • founded in August 2006 as project, since 1.1.2008 officially the 10th department of eff-zett das fachzentrum • coaching of women in matters of reentry into work force (e.g. after child raising), work-life balance, career planning, continued education, labor law, mobbing etc. • financing: 75% by federal government • 105 cases (104 women, 1 man) • 224 coaching sessions • first coaching: CHF 50, further sessions: rate by income
Coordination Centre for Self Help Groups • 141 phone counselings • 48 counsels of groups (e.g. establishment of new groups, conflict solving etc.) • organizing networking and educational meetings for groups • 50 self help groups in the canton of Zug • 1 new group / 1 break up in 2008
Couple and Family Counseling • counseling in relationship and child raising topics as well as for personal problems • founded in 1978, since 1988 contract from the canton • 674 counseling and therapy sessions • 8 adoption meetings • working with all ages • counseling may last from weeks to months • for singles, couples, families
Family Mediation, Separation/Divorce Mediation • helping couples to find non controversial separation/divorce agreements • mediation in family conflicts, custody, visitation rights etc. • 68 mediation sessions / 16 mediation cases • 2/3 of the couples seeking help are already separated • average of 3 - 4 sittings • 60% concluded within 3 months • co-mediation: team of woman + man, legally + psychologically qualified specialists
Legal Advice • first advice in all legal matters i.e. family-, working-, inheritance law etc. • no legal representation • 414 personal talks • 324 women/61 men/29 couples/groups main questions regarding: • divorces/separations/household liquidations: 245 • labor law: 19 • children’s rights: 56
Education for Parents / Parenting Classes • several public speeches by specialists on child raising • topics range from toddlers to teenagers • 376 participants (both sexes) in classes and speeches • 280 lesson hours • 2 programs / year • reservation online
Sexual and Pregnancy Counseling • opened in 1978, contract from the canton of Zug • 73 new cases (2009) • 135 personal talks / counselings (sexuality, pregnancy, abortion, prenatal diagnostics etc.) • 99 information/counseling by phone • 12 advice by internet/email sexual education in schools • 111 visits in schools / 28 counselings of teachers • 25 instructions/hand-out of material for teachers: regarding contraception/STD etc.
Victims Counseling • founded in 1993, working on behalf of the canton of Zug • specialized in counseling of victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse • open for all victims of any kind of violence • 310 cases • 561 personal talks • 95 counsels by phone • 10 counsels by internet • free of charge
FraueNetz: Network of Women • supporting working women/families/public • advancing equal chances for everyone • support for future female politicians at election time • networking for women politicians • event: International Day of Women (8th of March)
Brockenhaus • founded in 1976 to finance all the counseling services • formerly Brockenhaus in Cham (fire) and Baar • since 1999 beside Ökihof in Zug („shopping center“) • Brockehüüsli Ägeristrasse • managing director since May 2010 • 146 volunteers, only 6 paid employees • average age of volunteers over 60 • very loyal volunteers (some since beginning!) • Working hours of 4 to >100 hours per month • free pick up of used furniture
