  7. Testimonials • “There’s no way I would have made these changes in my life without the Step up to Wellness program. $500 was a big incentive for me!” –Gwen Williams • “It did inspire me. I lost 21 pounds, and Lord knows I wouldn’t have done it without the program.” – Brenda Baxter • “I saw this program spark a lot of enthusiasm among staff. People made some really significant lifestyle changes.” – Deborah Dancz, Health Coach

  8. Testimonials, cont. • “I began to quit smoking about 2 months before the wellness program began, knowing exactly what it was doing to my body… I was still struggling, and then came along a great incentive where I could be rewarded for quitting both tangibly and physically and that gave me the willpower to quit and stay quit now for about 1-1/2 yrs. I now often ride my bike to work with all of the extra energy I have. I would highly recommend to all smokers, never quit quitting, you will be successful one day and benefit from not smoking all the way around.” – Kasandra Powlenko

  9. Testimonials, cont. • “I FEEL THE WELLNESS PROGRAM CAUSED ME TO BE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MY HEALTH.  THE MONEY FACTOR WAS A BIG INCENTIVE TO QUIT SMOKING.  I ONLY SMOKED AT HOME, MAINLY.  TO ME, WINNING $500.00 IS A WONDERFUL INCENTIVE, LIKE WINNING THE LOTTERY.  ANYONE WOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT WINNING THE LOTTERY, AND RECEIVING $500.00.” - Marilyn Conroy

  10. Challenges • Transition in leadership for program • Transition of health coaches • Clarification of outcomes and points for activities • Support for smoking cessation among employees

  11. Recommendations • Recommend repeating program • Suggest beginning Fall 2005 • Increase support for smoking cessation with goal of becoming smoke-free company (offer gum, patch, hypnosis)
