The Story of John 11:1-45 • Lazarus was sick. • Mary and Martha asked Jesus to heal Lazarus. • Lazarus died. • Martha met Jesus. • Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” • Mary and her friends met Jesus and wept. • Jesus wept. • Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

Jesus Wept • Jesus was true man. • Weeping shows that Jesus was true man. • Jesus’ humanity: Jesus wept for Lazarus. • Jesus’ divinity: Jesus raised him from the dead. • Jesus was true man of sorrow. • Weeping shows Jesus’ sorrow for people’s pains and sufferings. • Jesus felt pains and sufferings when He was whipped and crucified on the cross.
